The Bungay Proms made a welcome return after a break of four years.

A large audience at St.Mary's Church, which had been decorated in red, white and blue to mark the occasion, enjoyed music from Bastion Brass Quintet and singing from the Bungay Voices and their Youth Choir, in an event organised by the Rotary Club of Bungay.

The flag-waving audience readily joined in the singing of Jerusalem, Land of Hope and Glory, When the Saints and the National Anthem, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the historic building.

The Quintet are all students at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and alumni of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. They have performed all over the country, including Southwark Cathedral and the Salisbury Cathedral School.

As well as leading the community singing they played instrumental arrangements of such popular numbers as What a Wonderful World, Almost like being in love, Somewhere, Penny Lane and A Nightingale Sand.

The choir, formerly Bungay Choral Society, presented a number of well-known songs. The Youth Choir impressed the audience with their singing, particularly I am the Earth.

A young member of the choir, Jamie Cave, 13, played a solo saxophone piece for his Grade 5 exam. Both Bungay Voices and the Youth Choir were conducted by Jason Collins, who arranged the programme.

Organist Tim Patient gave the evening further variety in his playing of the Toccata from Widor's Symphony No.5, and wowed the audience with a rendition of the lively Hornpipe Humoresque. Rotary President Tony Sprake thanked all those taking part in the successful event, especially Jason Collins. The concert raised funds for Mr Sprake's chosen charity, Cancer Research UK.
